Why is Benghazi still an issue to some people? by Tony Garcia
Answer by Tony Garcia:
The U.S. State Department’s 2013 report did not ascribe blame to any one individual, much to the chagrin of conservatives. Rather, it cited deficiencies in security at the U.S. Special Mission in Benghazi, as well as an over-reliance on local militia.(1)
The repeated calls for increased security staffing at the Mission and whether the State Department and the Pentagon did everything possible to save American lives while the mission in Benghazi was under attack were—and for some still are—at the heart of criticisms leveled against the Obama administration and then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
For me, these continued references to Benghazi merely serve as a fuge—an inability to remember the failures of President Trump’s policy initiatives during his first 100 days in office.
